King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, 1988 history witnessed the birth of something that would change the future of affordable spine care in Rural India. Under the capable leadership of Dr. Shekhar Y. Bhojraj, who headed a specialised team in K.E.M hospital, The Spine Unit dedicated to spine treatment was created.

In 1998, The Spine Foundation was established as the organization’s social arm in response to the realisation that this noble initiative needed to reach beyond the realm of medicine in order to improve the lives of countless people.
