At The Spine Foundation, we are committed to making quality healthcare available to everyone, regardless of socio-economic status. Dr. Nitin Shetty has been a great force in this mission, offering more than 30 years of experience in spinal surgery to those who need it most. As a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon and Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery at The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust, he has transformed the lives of countless people by performing minimally invasive spine operations, disc replacements, spinal fractures, and decompression of the lumbar.

While Dr. Shetty is a well known figure in leading medical institutions—including King Edward VII’s Hospital, The Princess Grace Hospital, and Fortius Clinic—his passion extends beyond private practice. His work with The Spine Foundation has been instrumental in reaching underserved rural, tribal, and urban poor communities, ensuring that those with limited access to healthcare receive advance spinal treatments. By providing free consultations, operations, and community education, he not only restores mobility, but dignity and hope to his patients.

Dr. Shetty’s academic career in the field of medicine is built upon a solid intellectual foundation. With his MBBS and MS  in place, he embarked on further specialization through high-quality fellowships from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital focusing on spinal deformity and advanced operative techniques. Dr. Shetty’s work in research, teaching, and mentorship continues to influence the next generation of spinal experts.

Greatly admired by patients and peers alike, Dr. Shetty is not only a talented surgeon but also an empathetic healer. His association with The Spine Foundation represents a common mission: a future where no one endures pain in silence because of unavailability of spinal care. Through this partnership, we continue to empower communities, one healed spine at a time.

Point Of View

"Strengthening Bonds: Community Collaboration for Spinal Health"

As a spine surgeon, I have been fortunate to witness the power of friendship and support in healing. Many individuals in rural and urban poor communities suffer from untreated spinal conditions, often feeling isolated in their struggles.

My commitment to serving these populations is driven by a desire to build meaningful connections. Providing free spine surgeries and consultations allows me to restore not just mobility but also hope and dignity to my patients.

Moreover, I recognize the importance of community education. By teaching individuals about spinal health and prevention strategies, we can empower them to take charge of their well-being.

The journey may be challenging, but the bonds we create along the way are invaluable. Together with fellow healthcare professionals and NGOs, we can work toward a common goal of accessible healthcare for all.

Let us join hands to inspire change and create a culture of compassion and support. The impact of our efforts can resonate through generations, transforming lives and communities.

We Are With You

"A message for society from The Spine Foundation"

The Spine Foundation aims to provide the best spine care to the rural, tribal, and poor in urban areas of India. It was Founded by Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj, who believes that there is a critical gap of service in health care for this segment of patients who understand their spine healthcare needs but are usually ill-equipped with information or economic resources to access quality services. The Spine Foundation provides free medical consultations, treatments, and surgeries for different spinal conditions. Indeed, such spinal conditions can affect the quality of life pretty seriously.

The foundation services include direct medical care, education, and preventive awareness of spinal health, education of communities to take preventive measures, and building sustainable healthcare in remote areas. The organization aims at empowering the individual and community to take control of their spine health instead of just treating it. With caring services and expert medical interventions, The Spine Foundation envisions a future where all individuals can receive quality spine care.

Together, we can create a healthier future by ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background or location, has access to quality spine care. Let’s work towards empowering the rural, tribal, and urban poor with the treatment and knowledge they need for a pain-free life.
