D.N.B. (Orthopaedics)

Member of the Association of Spine Surgeons of India

Advanced Spine Fellowship (The Spine Foundation, Mumbai)

At The Spine Foundation, we are privileged to work with dedicated healthcare professionals who go beyond hospital walls to serve those in need. Dr. Tejasvi Agarwal, a Consultant Spine Surgeon at Swami Vivekananda Charitable Hospital in Dehradun, is one such changemaker. Specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery, spine trauma, degenerative diseases and non-surgical spine care, he has made it his mission to provide affordable, high-quality treatment to rural and tribal communities across Uttarakhand.

Dr. Agarwal’s journey began at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun, where he completed his MBBS and MS in Orthopaedics. His passion for spine surgery was ignited during a medical camp where he met Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj, India’s first dedicated spine surgeon. This experience led him to pursue an intensive fellowship at The Spine Foundation in Mumbai, where he got trained in advanced surgical techniques.

Rather than choosing a conventional hospital setting, Dr. Agarwal returned to his hometown to serve those who need care the most. Understanding that cost is a major barrier, he provides low-cost spine surgeries. His work particularly benefits laborers and daily-wage workers who suffer from chronic back issues due to heavy lifting and long hours on foot.

Beyond surgeries, Dr. Agarwal believes in reaching people where they are. He has established 11 satellite spine clinics across remote Himalayan villages, including Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath and Gangotri. Through mobile physiotherapy units and health camps, he ensures that even those in the most isolated regions receive treatment. Additionally, he trains local healthcare workers to identify severe spine conditions, ensuring that only critical cases are referred for surgery.

Through his tireless dedication, Dr. Tejasvi Agarwal is not just treating spine conditions—he is restoring mobility, dignity and hope to those who would otherwise be left behind.

Point Of View

"Strengthening Communities Through Spinal Health Outreach"

As a spine surgeon, I am deeply committed to addressing the healthcare disparities faced by rural and urban poor communities. Many individuals suffer silently from chronic back pain due to untreated spinal conditions, often unable to afford the necessary care.

I believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their financial situation. Through my work with NGOs, I strive to provide free spinal surgeries and consultations to those in need. My mission is to alleviate pain and improve the quality of life for underserved individuals.

In addition to surgical interventions, I focus on education, raising awareness about spinal health and preventive measures. By teaching communities about proper posture and ergonomics, we can help them avoid future complications.

Ultimately, my goal is to create a pain-free future for all. By investing in the health of our communities, we are investing in a brighter tomorrow. Together, we can break down barriers and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy, fulfilling life.

"A message for society from The Spine Foundation"

The Spine Foundation aims to provide the best spine care to the rural, tribal, and poor in urban areas of India. It was Founded by Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj, who believes that there is a critical gap of service in health care for this segment of patients who understand their spine health care needs but are usually ill-equipped with information or economic resources to access quality services. The Spine Foundation provides free medical consultations, treatments, and surgeries for different spinal conditions. Indeed, such spinal conditions can affect quality of life pretty seriously.

The foundation services include direct medical care, education, and preventive awareness of spinal health, education of communities to take preventive measures, and building sustainable healthcare in remote areas. The organization aims at empowering the individual and community to take control of their spine health instead of just treating it. With caring service and expert medical interventions, The Spine Foundation envisions a future where all individuals can receive quality spine care.

Together, we can create a healthier future by ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background or location, has access to quality spine care. Let’s work towards empowering the rural, tribal, and urban poor with the treatment and knowledge they need for a pain-free life.
