Prof. John is a public health professional, epidemiologist, and health economist with over two decades of experience in research, evaluation, and policy translation. 

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy, Mangalore University; Master of Public Health, University of Auckland, MBA in Hospital Management, IIHMR Jaipur, and PhD in Public Health, University of Portsmouth, UK. He is recipient of several national and international grants and published over 200 peer-review publications. 

Since 2022, he has been listed among the Elsevier’s list of top 2% most cited globally in public health.  In 2025, he was awarded Regunath Research Fellowship by SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai, for his research on economic burden of multimorbidity among elderly in Bangalore. He received the Grassroots Science Advice Promotion Award in 2023 conferred by International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA). He is Editorial Board Member with several international journals such as Campbell Systematic Reviews, PLOS One, Scientific Reports, and Systematic Reviews. 

At The Spine Foundation, Dr. John guides the organisation’s research and innovation strategy, leading the design and evaluation of community-based spine-care program across India. His work integrates health economics, outcomes research, digital health and  implementation research to ensure TSF’s interventions are both evidence-driven and scalable. A mentor and collaborator, he is committed to strengthening health systems in resource-limited settings through data-informed, equitable care.
