Understanding the urgent need for intervention, The Spine Foundation began its mission in Ambajogai through a pivotal partnership with Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Medical College—the first rural medical college in Asia. This collaboration not only brought expert spinal care to the region but also aimed to train and empower local health professionals. A major milestone in this journey was the establishment of a state-of-the-art Modular Operating Theatre (OT) at SRT Rural Medical College in 2021, fully funded by The Spine Foundation. This advanced facility has revolutionized spinal healthcare in the region, allowing complex surgical procedures to be performed locally with precision and safety, thus reducing the need for long, costly travel to distant cities
In addition to infrastructural development, The Spine Foundation has consistently organized specialized spine camps in Ambajogai to offer direct medical care to those in need. One such significant initiative was the Ambajogai Spine Surgical Camp held from February 9th to 11th, 2024, where twelve patients underwent successful spine surgeries, gaining relief from years of pain and restricted mobility. This was followed by another impactful camp from June 14th to 16th, 2024, during which twelve more patients received life-altering spinal procedures. Continuing this momentum, TSF organized a third surgical camp from November 15th to 17th, 2024, where ten patients suffering from serious spinal conditions like herniated discs and spinal stenosis underwent successful surgeries. Each of these camps brought expert surgeons, diagnostic support, and rehabilitation advice to individuals who otherwise had no access to such specialized care.
Ambajogai, a culturally significant town located in the Beed district of Maharashtra, has been a focal point for The Spine Foundation’s rural outreach initiatives since 2017. Known for its ancient Shri Yogeshwari Devi Temple and rich heritage, Ambajogai is surrounded by villages where the majority of people are engaged in agriculture and daily-wage labour. With a population of approximately 1.06 lakh as of 2025, the town represents a microcosm of rural India—where tradition meets the challenges of limited healthcare infrastructure. The physically demanding nature of agricultural work, combined with the lack of spine specialists in the area, has resulted in a large number of individuals suffering silently from spinal ailments such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, chronic back pain, and injuries. These conditions often go untreated due to financial constraints or the absence of nearby specialized care.

Beyond treatment, TSF’s interventions in Ambajogai extend to spreading awareness about spinal health, teaching safe lifting techniques, and promoting exercises to prevent back pain. This educational approach is especially critical in a town where manual labor is a common livelihood. Ambajogai’s literacy rate, has supported these outreach efforts by enabling effective communication and community engagement. The presence of esteemed educational institutions like Yogeshwari Mahavidyalaya, Shree Yogeshwari Shikshan Sanstha, and Bhartiya Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha further enhances the town’s role as a regional hub for both learning and healthcare.

In a region where healthcare access has long been limited, The Spine Foundation’s efforts in Ambajogai stand as a beacon of hope. By integrating medical expertise with local empowerment, the Foundation not only treats patients but also builds a sustainable model for long-term spinal health. The continuous support of donors, volunteers, and medical partners enables TSF to expand its reach, transforming lives and restoring mobility to those who need it most. Through its unwavering dedication, The Spine Foundation is not just healing spines—it is strengthening communities, one camp at a time.
