About The Spine Foundation
Bringing Spine Care to Those in Need: The Work of The Spine Foundation Since 1998
Since 1998, The Spine Foundation has been committed to delivering essential spine care to underserved communities in rural and tribal areas of India. Founded by Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj, the foundation offers free spine surgeries, medical check-ups, and ongoing care for individuals with serious spinal conditions who cannot afford treatment. Through regular medical camps, the foundation brings healthcare to areas with limited access to services, ensuring that everyone receives the support they need. In addition to providing direct care, the foundation prioritizes educating communities on spinal health, teaching them preventive measures and how to manage existing conditions.
Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj,
Founder & Trustee
In 1988, at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, history was made with the birth of an initiative that would revolutionize affordable spine care in rural India. Under the expert leadership of Dr. Shekhar Y. Bhojraj, who led a specialized team at K.E.M. Hospital, the Spine Unit dedicated to spine treatment was established.
In 1998, The Spine Foundation was founded as the organization’s social arm. This was in response to the realization that the noble initiative needed to extend beyond the confines of medicine to truly improve the lives of countless individuals.
