For more than 25 years, Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj has devoted his life to supporting India’s underserved tribal communities, merging his medical skills with a strong commitment to social welfare. As a prominent spine surgeon, his significant contributions go far beyond the operating room. His initiative, The Spine Foundation, has been crucial in enhancing spine health for remote and marginalised populations, tackling a vital gap in healthcare services.
The urge to heal and serve society inspired Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj to study medicine. After forming a career out of spinal surgery, he became greatly alarmed over the frequency of disorders of the spine in the tribal people of India. Such people residing in secluded lands were deprived of not only advanced spine care but also even primary health care. Many people lived their whole lives at best in chronic pain unable to find relief for their ailments. Due to the dire need he saw, Dr. Bhojraj launched The Spine Foundation in the year 1998. His focus was a simple one. Help the unworthy population obtain spinal deplorable and profitable high-quality care.
Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj makes contribution in spine care not only by way of outreach programmes but also along the cutting edge of medical sciences and techniques. He has developed and mastered “General and Pushing” spine techniques, a minimally invasive technique aimed at shortening the recovery process and the overall improvement in the standing of individuals with complicated spine conditions. This method works by realigning the spine and correcting deformities so that the patient experiences little or no relief from extensive procedures.
This has been particularly beneficial in populations with a tribal culture because they need to perform laborious chores as well as travel long distances hence urging the need to recover quickly. Dr. Bhojraj’s techniques make patients return to their normal functioning within the shortest time possible in the least disruptive manner. His continued push for the improvement of techniques in spinal surgery has been a boon to both the people in the rural centres as well as those in urban centres.
